Japanese Birthday party

It's been a long time since my last post!My birthday party this year was a HUGE success- we had so much fun! Lots of inspiration was from a blog we found that had some really cool ideas for a Japanese party.Yes, I'll cut to the chase; here's the photos:
the party area was a mini tea house set up on our back patio.
SSSLLLUUURRRPPP!!

When the girls got here, we each picked a brown paper bag that had been decorated with cute   printables from etsy . Each one had a Kimono inside in a different color that my mom had sewn! (one was purple with gold wavy patterns, one had the same pattern but gold with purple designs, one was blue with silver flowers, and one was silver with blue flowers) Then we put on lip gloss, eye shadow, and toenail polish to help us feel more like Japanese princesses.We also did our hair, and stuck in decorated chopsticks for hair sticks that we made ourselves.While some girls were finishing their hair sticks, others started gluing some cute etsy printouts to the backs of little mirrors to make custom mini mirrors.After we were all dolled (or should i say kokeshied?) up, it was time to start our main activity: kokeshi painting. Kokeshis  are small wooden Japanese dolls with no neck,arms,or legs. Mom got ball knobs and candle cups and dowel caps from Michael's in Kelowna.Here's the finished dolls:
mine's on the far right....we didn't have time to glue on her buns!

we ate supper after that, then watched a Japanese animae movie called spirited away. there was some craziness at supper...
anonymous guest attempts to eat entire blob of wasabi...

there was also chopsticks-stuck-up-nose "walrus tusks" going on.....
we had a great time!

Here's some great photo shoot pics my dad took of us;

Thanks guests, dad, and especially mom for making this fun day possible, and awesome!

lately I've also been doing drama camp so I'll post that soon!
